Economic Attractiveness Mission to Japan - November, 2015, Tokyo - Osaka - Kyoto


Invest Sud de France and the Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council co-organised an "Economic attractiveness mission" to Japan, from 15th to 19th November, in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. The delegation was headed by Jean-Claude Gayssot, former Minister, Vice-President of the Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council, delegate for International Relations, Europe and the French-speaking world, and Administrator of Invest Sud de France. This mission was part of Invest Sud de France’s action plan for 2015.

Objectives of the mission


  • Promote the economic attractiveness of the Region, particularly via sectors of interest to the Japanese: Space (Space Centre of Montpellier), Nuclear (promotion of the Valorisation of Industrial Sites group (PVSI) and expertise in nuclear dismantling with the CEA site at Marcoule), Agro-food/Coastal economy. Also, detection of Japanese investors who are potentially interested in investing in Europe/France or in building partnerships with regional companies.

  • Identify Japanese investors: targeting major Japanese businesses open to industrial/technological/ financial alliances.

  • Meet the Boards of NTN Corporation (Osaka) and HORIBA (Kyoto), both Board members of Invest Sud de France.


Invest Sud de France, with Business France Japan, organised a series of highly targeted B to B meetings, aiming to foster industrial/technological/financial alliances with regional companies in the Invest Sud de France portfolio, such as Systheia and Médithau.
